Prior to entering private practice,
David M. Benson spent 12 years managing divisions for two major
publishers of legal information, West Group and Lawyers Weekly
Inc. As a practicing attorney since 1993, he has represented
hundreds of Ohioans, most of them in bankruptcy matters for
both Chapter 7 liquidations and Chapter 13 restructuring cases.
He has extensive experience in counseling clients on the most
advantageous alternatives relating to bankruptcy issues, including
loan modifications, deeds in lieu of foreclosure and short sales.
In addition to bankruptcy, Mr. Benson's practice has included
civil litigation arising from motor vehicle accidents, real
estate disputes and contested divorces.
Mr. Benson is admitted to practice before the U.S. District
Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the U.S. Bankruptcy
Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the state courts
of all 88 Ohio counties. Mr. Benson is a member of the Ohio
bar, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys,
the American Constitution Society and the Lawyers Guild. Mr.
Benson has received degrees from Oberlin College, the Case Western
Reserve University School of Law and the Weatherhead School
of Management.
Mr. Benson is a long-time resident of Cleveland Heights and
serves on the boards of two local nonprofit organizations, TystArt
Inc. and Eastside Kickers Soccer Club Inc. He is also a member
of the Vasa Order of America, the Swedish-American Chamber of
Commerce, the Swedish Cultural Society and the Sons of the American
Revolution.
